Adams won a silver medal at the 2007 European Championships England's Nicola Adams and Lisa Whiteside moved convincingly into the semi-finals at the European Women's Championships in the Netherlands.

Flyweight (51kg) Adams beat Marielle Hansen of Norway 14-6 to book a place in the last four.

Featherweight (57kg) Whiteside then joined Adams in Friday's semis, beating Bulgaria's Svetlana Kamenova 13-9.

But Nina Smith (featherweight) went out as she lost to Turkey's Ayse Tas on double count-back.

Natasha Jonas (light-welterweight, 64kg) and Savannah Marshall (middleweight, 75kg) fight in the quarter-finals later on Wednesday.

Six boxers travelled to Rotterdam representing England and all but Whiteside are also members of Great Britain Boxing's Olympic squad.

The three Olympic weight categories in women's boxing are flyweight, middleweight and lightweight.
